Congress spends the money not the President

The US Federal debt is not so much effected by who lives in the White House than it is by which party is in control of Capitol Hill. In our form of government it is Congress that says how much will be spent and for what, not the President. True a budget is sent to the legislative branch from the oval office but it is Representatives and Senators that are responsible for the national debt. The President's responsibility is to carry out their directive, like it or not.

When I was a kid the common saying was... "If you don't like the way things are going then write your Congressman."
